Transcript of Newscast on 2193.05.23 at 13:00 GMT:
UNSC Reported today the existence of a Kra'Vak stronghold has been
uncovered in an unmined section of the asteroid belt. " We probably would
have never found it, except for the unusuall concentration of asteroids
surrounding the base." stated UNSC Vice Admiral Fristensky.
"We suspect that this base is a refueling station they plan to use in the
final assault on the Sol system." continued Fristensky, "This statement is
based on analysis of the asteroid field that they have assembled around
themselves.
"The field is very dense making navigation through it impossible. Also, due
to the density of the field, it is impracticle to blast our way through or
attempt to dismantle the field. However, we have detected a corridor they
have left into the station. We presume that this corridor is to allow
access by damaged or fuel-depleated Kra'Vak ship for repair, refueling, and
rearming.
"As we speak, Operation Avalance is commencing. It is designed to penetrate
the Kra'Vak stronghold and remove the base station."
[At this point the Vice Admiral is interrupted by an Aide]
"Attention, Please!
We have just recieved reports that our patrols have intercepted a Kra'Vak
battle fleet just inside the orbit of Neptune. The UNSC, in conjunction
with the ESU, FSE, NAC, NSL, OU, PAU, and IC have declared Martial Law
system-wide. Following this announcement, please stay tuned to recieve
further instructions from your civic authorities..."
Operation Avalance is a Human vs Kra'Vak Full Thrust Scenario. It will
accomidate 4-8 players. Play will be within an asteroid field using
FT/FB1/FB2 rules. Movement Units will be in inches. Movement style will be
Vector. There will be some minor house rules in effect (including being
able to fire through the aft arc regardless of engine use).

| Description |

Complexity: Moderate
They would call the short and bloody year which was to follow 'The
Telepath War', revisionists would refer to it as 'The Telepath Incident'.
But in the fall of 2264, it began as a battle for a single ship, a ship
who's importance few realized. But one of those was Alfred Bester, who saw
in that ship all his dreams for telepaths about to come true.
The Advanced Destroyer Arachne is back this year leading the fight
to capture the EAS Warlock. Along with other new ships and a couple of
surprises. Players for this event should be familiar with at least the basic
Full Thrust rules, and experience with the vector movement system used in
EFSB is recommended.
This event is being run concurrently and interactively with Psi War
2264: Ivanova's Last Stand, and both events are part of the Psi War 2264
scenario. Actions in one event may have repercussions in the other, and the
outcome of the scenario will be determined by BOTH events.

"This is Captain Susan Ivanova of the EAS Warlock, to all ships, we
are under attack and being boarded by..." Out-numbered and out-gunned,
cornered in engineering, and all transmissions being jammed, Susan Ivanova
knew only one thing, the Psi Corps would not be getting her ship without a
fight.
Play the Corps, or the Warlock crew lead by Susan herself. This
event will use the FMA rules currently being developed, with modifications
to cover telepaths, PPGs and other 'Babylon 5 factors'. It is recommended
that players have some experience with the FMA skirmish rules (a
figure-based system where a player typically controls 1-2 squads), or the
Star Grunt system, but all rules will be covered in the event. A copy of the
rules can be received by sending email to michael_richie@hotmail.com

4-12 |
| Description |
|
Complexity: Moderate
This is a "bring your own squad" (BYOS) event. A number of nations
have sent their peacekeeping forces to the war torn planet of Fromage
III. The planet's ruling family, the Limburgers, doesn't like to have
their sovereignty violated, and calls home their entire navy to blockade
the planet and starve the peacekeepers into compliance.
One brave soul, Captain Monterey "Jack" Colby, attempts to run the
blockade and manages to drop several containers of cheese product to the
starving peacekeepers. But now, the peacekeepers must fight each other
while they locate and secure the newly dropped supplies.
Each container of cheese has a certain point value associated with
it. Whoever controls the containers with highest total number of points
will be declared the Queso King and immediately crowned as such. Others
top finishers will earn noble titles, such as: Duke of Jarlsberg, Prince
of Parmesan, or Count of Cottage. The rest of the players will be
inducted into the Military Order of the Coeur de Chevre.
Squads may be made up of any combination of troops or vehicles, as
long as in total they do not exceed 10 capacity points. Each regular
trooper counts as 1 capacity point. PA counts as 2 capacity points. A
support weapon counts as 1 capacity point. A Size 1 vehicle counts as 5
capacity points. There is no additional cost for the crew of a
vehicle. Vehicles are assumed to have a commander and a driver, plus
one gunner for each weapon, over and above the "free" APSW. To equalize
the relative power of the individual squads, the GM will pass out a
number of cards to some players that may be played at various times
during the game that will have various in-game effects. Players must
provide their own miniatures and squad data cards.

The year is 1720. This morning, the pirate band attacked and
boarded a merchant ship. As they were off-loading the merchant's
cargo, a British man-o'war showed up. Now the pirates have
pulled to in this secluded cove to bury their treasure and
lighten their ship so that they can make a run for friendlier
territory. But the work crew hasn't returned from shore,
British sails have been spotted on the horizon, and just what
is that weird chanting coming from in-land? Arrr!
