is this thing on?

After everything from gentle prodding, helpful hinting, and outright demands from at least two regular readers (the vocal ones), I have finally managed to do my part to get an RSS feed for Not From Toronto. "My part" consisted of e-mailing my friend that hosts warpfish.com and asking him for an RSS feed. He happened to have the time, and lo and behold, I am pleased to present the Not From Toronto RSS Feed!

So now instead of bugging me for an RSS feed you can bug me for not having posted for so long instead. Progress!

best-case scenario

I finally had my long-awaited meeting with John and Bob today (my dad's business associates for those that are having trouble following along at home). I got an e-mail late in the afternoon on Friday from John confirming that we'd meet up in Windsor on Saturday morning. It felt like a very, very long week waiting for this meeting to be arranged, so it was a big relief when it finally did.

I mentioned to Jannette once I knew when the meeting was scheduled that the best-case scenario I could ever hope for would be to come away from this meeting and be able to give my one week notice to my current contract and start right into my new career under the mentorship, guidance, and financing of John and Bob. Of course, I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever that the best-case scenario wouldn't happen, and that I would simply have more meetings to look forward to that would eventually get me closer to starting something.

Boy, am I glad I was wrong.

has anyone seen my honk?

I lost my honk. I've had it as long as I can remember, and I know I had it as recently as a few months ago. I don't know if losing it is a good thing or not, but I just noticed I don't have it anymore. What I'm trying to say is that I no longer sound like an elephant when I blow my nose.

congealing the amorphous

Yes, I've been pretty quiet as of late. I'll blame that squarely on my current contract, which has me commuting to Mississauga every day. Adding two hours of driving to one's day really does make for a long day, especially if you get up as early as I do to ensure that you're driving before all the bad traffic. Ergo, I'm to bed early, thereby I don't spend a lot of time online at home in the evenings. Capische?

drawn and quartered, professionally speaking

It's only Tuesday, and this has been quite a full week. So much is trying to happen at the same time that I'm really not sure what's going on or where to start. Thus, I'm having to stay flexible, which can be tough. I am attempting to simultaneously find some short-term work to pay the bills, job search both in my current line of work and in a different line of work, as well as get the ball rolling on working with my dad's business contacts.

At least I'm not sitting at home twiddling my thumbs. (Far from it - yesterday I installed drywall.)

mid-vacation update

Yes, I'm in the middle of my vacation down on the Gulf Coast of Florida, and thus far it's been quite a good vacation. However, there are now many things to think about that have happened over the past couple of days that don't involve vacationing. It's been a wild 4 days.

Do-It-Yourself Foundation Repair: The Outcome

NFT Feature  Many moons ago, I was blogging about the crack in my foundation and finding a do-it-yourself foundation crack repair kit online. Well, I've had said kit sitting around my house just waiting to be used for too many months now, and I finally got around to buckling down and just doing it. For the benefit of any who may be in the same situation and considering the do-it-yourself route, here is what I experienced.
