06/10/2006: "Firefly"

A friend of mine not-so-recently let me borrow his entire collection of Firefly DVDs, including the movie Serenity. Sadly, my DVD was broken, and I was going to return them to him. With the discovery of a $30 DVD player at my grocery store (that I bought with PC points), I finally got around to watching the first episodes last night.

The verdict? Yeah, baby! This is good stuff.

There's not really all that much more I can say, other than I'm really enjoying it. It's a very intersting fusion of science fiction and Western; the proportion is just right, and the background story sets it up to be entirely logical that it should be that way. Bravo.

The only other thing I can say right now is that I'm finding the series very rich. There is simply so much development going on with characters, storylines and arcs, it could really be overwhelming. It's not however... the story simply seems steeped with detail.

I'm not going to blather on, but if you are one of the hold-outs like me that have heard about Firefly and sitll haven't seen it, by all means, SEE IT.
